Summary
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York (“Bank”) has an opportunity in the Financial Operations, Reporting, and Risk Management function (“FORRM”) for a financial professional. FORRM is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting policies, improving the financial reporting process, and providing consistent, high quality accounting support that is responsive to the needs of the Bank. The successful candidate will assist in the analysis and compliance of the Federal Reserve System Planning and Control System (PACS) policies and procedures, which is the Bank’s cost accounting system. As a member of the PACS Compliance team, this professional will be part of a team reporting into the Accounting Policy & Risk Management manager. The PACS Compliance team is responsible for ensuring that cost accounting conducted on a budget and actual basis complies with policies and procedures, providing cost accounting guidance and approval of new business transactions and initiatives and conducting training as needed.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the review and analysis of budgeted department distributions and support tables for compliance with PACS and work with business areas to make all necessary changes. * Monitor and identify required PACS changes to actual expense allocations as a result of significant variances from budget, organizational changes or changes in business activities. * Assist with the interpretation, support and explanation of PACS questions from internal and external customers. * Build relationships and maintain effective communication and coordination between the department, other Bank departments, other Reserve Banks, the Board of Governors, and/or other external customers. * Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all business area functions, including operations, strategies, challenges, and resource issues.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Accounting or finance; * MBA, CPA, or other strong industry experience a plus * Minimum 6 years’ experience; public accounting or financial services a plus * The desire and demonstrated ability to interpret, explain, and implement policy * Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Strong control, analytical and problem solving skills (i.e. the ability to identify and research issues) * Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly in Excel)
