Responsibilities
Factual is looking for a Junior-level Help Desk/Systems Engineer to help handle the management and growth of our cloud and internal computing and network infrastructure. We're a technical group of people working in a relaxed environment with various demanding infrastructure needs. There's almost no 24/7 component to this job but there are a lot of machines and systems to keep configured and happy and we have a very high standard of careful, detail-oriented, responsive professionalism. Responsibilities: - Maintain computing and networking infrastructure. - Share support burden for mostly technical internal staff - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures - Devops and automation of internal and production infrastructure - System/network monitoring & troubleshooting - Participate in on-call rotation duties
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** - Linux experience. - Understanding of network protocols and security - Thrive in a startup environment and enjoy wearing many hats - Experience with services: nagios, mrtg, dns, dhcp, ldap, kerberos a plus - Scripting skills (ruby, python, bash) - Excellent verbal and written communication skills **Nice-to-haves:** - BS in Computer Science. - Experience with AWS, Mesos, Docker, Kubernetes - Hadoop experience - Chef or Puppet experience - Hands on programming skills - Database experience (sql and nosql)
