Summary
Facebook demands highly customized server components from its hardware vendors to ensure that every watt hour of energy is used efficiently. Our designs are kept simple and minimalistic; with an emphasis on specifying and testing every critical component. This position is full time and located in our Menlo Park office.
Responsibilities
* Define architecture and specifications for custom data center equipment * Engage vendors to ensure product meets specification * Review schematic and board diagrams * Bring up new board designs * Test designs for functionality and power efficiency * Engage mechanical teams to ensure proper component cooling in the data center * Engage software team to ensure application compatibility and performance * Engage deployments team to ensure smooth product introduction
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering required * Minimum of 5 years of experience with electronic design and bring up of server systems * Familiar with server system architecture of CPU manufacturers * Experience with high speed board design and board bring-up * Familiarity with direct attach storage and high speed SAS backplane design a plus * Familiar with schematic and PCB CAD programs * Familiar with hardware testing methodologies and have a hands on approach when testing * Knowledge of Linux * Detail oriented communication and documentation skills
