Responsibilities
Job SummaryUnder general supervision, operates boilers and turbines and their respective auxiliaries and performs all functions of an operating nature required for the safe and efficient operation of said boilers, turbines and auxiliaries; is responsible for red tagging and observing and reporting to the Shift Manager upon the activities and work performed by maintenance mechanics, employees of other departments and other companies in and around that part of steam-electric stations under the jurisdiction of the Steam Section.
Ideal Candidate
* Ability to work indoors and outdoors on rotating shifts. Must possess keen faculty of observation, good eyesight, hearing and sense of smell and be capable of using these senses to detect abnormalities in the operation of equipment by sight, sound and smell * Must have had at least four (4) years¿ experience in the lower rating of progression or the equivalent experience gained elsewhere. * Must possess a Massachusetts Second Class Engineer's License. * Must have an advanced understanding of the fundamental principles involved in steam-electric generation; must have a knowledge of the operation and functions of turbo-generator units and their auxiliaries and their relationship to the operation of the plant; must be able to diagnose trouble, exercise independent judgment and make quick and correct decisions during the normal and abnormal periods; must be able to direct the activities of others and be able to receive, interpret and transmit orders and instructions.
