Responsibilities
THE POSITION An opportunity exists for a qualified person with paid work experience in secretarial, clerical and data processing experience in support of the Everett Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher department. The person in this position will report to the HCV manager. This is a full-time union position working 37.5 hours per week. EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES The General Clerk assists in preparing and typing office correspondence, records, forms, and newsletters; assists with verification as needed; assists with maintaining database information with specialized computer software and on spreadsheets in Excel and Access; provides excellent customer service to a wide variety of participants, including coaching and basic technological support using web-based portals; files (both electronically and regular), copies and routes documents; assists in preparing packets; processes special departmental mailings; scans and organizes electronic records; manages departmental archives; performs receptionist duties as needed, and prepares rooms for meetings and takes minutes in meetings.
Ideal Candidate
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; - One (1) year of paid computer work experience; - One (1) year of paid office experience. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Excellent composition, grammar, spelling and math skills; - Proficient use of computer including Word and Excel; - Keyboarding speed equivalent to 35 WPM or higher; - Manage time and tasks efficiently with limited supervision; - Speak and understand English and follow oral and written directions; - Perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages; - Develop letters, memoranda, newsletters and reports using grammatically correct English. REQUIRED LICENSES, PERMITS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be personally bondable for insurance purposes; - Valid Washington State Driver’s license and acceptable driving record; - Fair Housing Certification or ability to obtain within the first six (6) months. Candidates shall not have a felony criminal conviction; successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and drug test. ADDITIONAL (DESIRABLE) QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of and/or paid experience in social service work; - Prior government or public sector work experience; - Ability to speak any additional languages besides English; - Prior front desk/receptionist experience.
