Summary
We’re looking for a born detective to join our cross-functional spam & fraud fighting team. You’ll help review and make decisions on specific cases of suspected fraud, spam and abuse, and contribute to our detection mechanisms. We’ve built machine learning systems that can crunch through large amounts of data and make real time decisions, and great tools that help us parse through and visualize behavioral data, but at the heart of it all is human common sense that comes from expert analysts, data scientists and operational specialists. Our job is to protect our customers and Eventbrite from fraud and malicious acts, while ensuring our technology and process is seamless and delightful.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for monitoring numerous real-time queues and prioritize risky transactions and other abuse for manual review * Investigate individual transactions using internal policies and review methodologies to determine if the transaction are fraudulent or not * Research spam, fraud and user behavior to contribute to machine learning models, rules and other detection systems * Collaborate with analysts, operations specialists, data scientists and engineering to improve our fraud prevention mechanisms, processes and tools * Solve complex problems by gathering and distilling web, financial, and behavioral data into actionable findings * Maintain strong domain knowledge of the worlds of spam and fraud including prevention techniques and technologies * Be available to monitor our fraud & spam operations on a flexible schedule
Ideal Candidate
* Demonstrated decision making skills * Ability to spot patterns and formalize complex ideas into a well-defined process * General familiarity with Internet technologies and protocols * Proven strong analytical skills * Quick-thinker and fast learner - don’t have fraud experience? We’re willing to teach the right person * Ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills * BA/BS Degree or higher * Requires non-traditional hours, including weekends **Bonus Points:** * Experience in fraud or spam * Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events * Working knowledge of SQL, Hive or Tableau
