Summary
The Data Engineering team works on the pipes that connect the various services and data stores that make up the Eventbrite websites and mobile applications. In addition, the team is responsible for Eventbrite’s analytic infrastructure, including ETL, the enterprise data warehouse, and reporting tools.
Responsibilities
You’ll be a key member of a small engineering team working on Eventbrite’s data-related problems. As a Data Engineer, you’ll work on exciting projects that touch all parts of our data ecosystem. You’ll work with business teams to define, scope, design, and develop ETL processes in Scala or Python for the data warehouse, and you’ll work with engineers on other teams to ensure that scalable, fast pipes connect their processes to the data they need. Current (but evolving) technologies include Spark, Elasticsearch, Redis, MySQL, hive, impala, and Tableau.
Ideal Candidate
* 5-7 years experience building ETL processes for a multi-terabyte enterprise data warehouse * Strong grasp of data warehouse concepts and data models * Deep experience with at least one RDBMS platform, and advanced SQL skills in at least one dialect (Oracle, Teradata, MySQL, etc.) * Experience building high quality software in Python, Java, or Scala * Working knowledge of at least one analytics-related language (Python/R/Matlab) * Experience with at least one BI reporting tool (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Pentaho, etc.) * AWS development and operations experience (EMR, s3, data pipelines, etc.) * Exceptional oral and written communication skills * Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field **Bonus Points:** * Experience supporting a 24/7 production environment * Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events
