* Conduct statistical analyses to learn from unstructured, real-world behavioral data * Design and implement machine learning algorithms for retail analytics * Engineer production-ready applications to analyze data * Convey and explain models and data insight with clarity * Recognizing the difference between white, pink, and brown noise visually (or with your eyes closed)

* Deep understanding of a quantitative science: computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied math, statistics, etc. (graduate degree a plus) * Experience with languages used for querying (e.g. SQL) * Experience with scripting languages for preprocessing and statistical analysis (e.g. Python + Pandas) * Experience with Spark, Scalding, Pig, or other map-reduce technologies * Enthusiastic about implementing jobs in Scala on the Spark platform * Passion for continuous integration and automated testing * Can concretely explain the difference between an monoid and a monad (in 100 words or less)
