Summary
We are seeking a VP, Business Development with a proven track record in supporting technical sales of complex networking solutions to Service Providers. In this role you will play a key role in driving the driving technical sales in the all IP/SDN market segment in The United States. As VP, Business Development you will be responsible for establishing relationships with executive-level decision makers and manage the entire sales process from the technical side within the area of SDN, IP and Network Functions product and solution sales. The individual should drive the thought leadership, market requirements, offer development, and evangelize new innovative solutions that address service provider needs and opportunities for instance in the areas of network transformation, Data Center/Wide area networking, Virtualization. This is a senior level position reporting to the Head of Ericsson’s North American SDN, IP and Netowrk Functions Engagement Practice. Together with the Key Account team for the Customer you will identify selling strategies and will drive pursuit of technical opportunities for IP, Network Virtualization, and SDN. You will mentor the Key Account on IP and SDN pre-sales competence.
Responsibilities
- The candidate will work directly with our key account managers and be accountable for driving new funnel opportunities, creating compelling & competitive offers using Total Cost of Ownership models, and progressing large, strategic key deals forward to closure. - Execution will be towards key North American operators covering the Ericsson portfolio, third-party partner products, consulting, and systems integration to meet/exceed the sales targets. - Requires building strong relationships with the Ericsson account management teams internally, key customers decision makers and influencers, business units, collaboration with 3pp and other key stakeholders. - Identify strategic market requirements and influence roadmap development of new SDN and IP solutions in accordance to customer's requirements and feedback. - Interface with the product management groups and development organizations to secure development of solutions that meet the customer's needs in a timely manner. - Interface with strategy, marketing and delivery teams as well as global peer teams working on similar initiatives at other customer accounts to leverage experiences and new ideas across the organization. - Drive the technical sales process and lead the designing of comprehensive and complex technical solutions addressing customer needs - In agreement with the KAM, initiating proactive customer engagements with existing and prospective customers. - Drive up-sell opportunities during the entire process in order to contribute to increased sales volumes. - Give support in designing/consulting with the customers on complex networking solutions and transformation from legacy IP infrastructures to SDN and virtualization. - Providing full product line specifications and maintain knowledge of the complete IP and Broadband products and solution offerings. - Maintaining knowledge of key competitor's product line and future direction. - Representing the Key Account on technical issues towards the Product Area. - Facilitating resources as needed to close large opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
- 15+ years experience in the networking industry, preferably with a vendor. - Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree and/or MBA considered a merit. - Proven history of leadership of successful Consultative Presales activities including experience working with executives and engaging in technical and business conversations along with a strong understanding of how they evaluate, purchase, and deploy large scale systems. - Ability to develop technology strategy and financial business cases for IP and SDN initiatives - Complete understanding of internetworking (IP/MPLS), transmission, switching and service creation/provisioning. - Strong understanding of data center network infrastructure, including layer 2 switching and leaf-spine architectures - Strong understanding of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Virtualization - Familiarity with SDN and NFV related technologies, including OpenStack Neutron, OpenFlow, orchestration, and OpenDaylight - Strong background in Solutions/Consultative sales approach at the executive level with ability to translate business needs to product solutions - Strong Understanding of the Network Service Provider technical challenges including intimate knowledge of the end-user needs. - Experience in carrier network transformation to IP or related technologies - Strong ability to work in a complex global environment, effectively building and sustaining relationships at multiple levels with the customer as well as internally. - Strong team player whom easily integrates in an existing team and has the ability to create the needed team to achieve the business objectives. - Open, winning and go-getter attitude, organized and structured, an excellent listener and strong presentation skills are pre-requisites. - Articulates arguments or ideas in a compelling way. - Proactive, self-motivating with a good grasp of the key business drivers. - Willing and available to travel frequently in the region - Fluent in English and local language
