Communications Manager

We are the Environmental Volunteers! Our Mission: To promote the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education.

Responsibilities Include: Communications - Implement a strategic marketing and communications plan to develop a consistent and compelling brand message for the EV - Build our presence and profile among diverse audiences including local, corporate, education, science, philanthropic, and non-profit communities, and the media - Manage the development of, and create content for, a variety of vehicles including our website, e-newsletters, email blasts, social media, press releases, annual reports, and collateral - Work with graphic designers to produce high-quality materials - For all marketing and communications activities, create and track against tangible measures of success Web and Social Media - Keep our website vibrant and current - Oversee and implement the EV's social media strategy, manage our social media portals, and track key metrics. - Actively engage key audiences by initiating activities that increase positive brand awareness Other Responsibilities - Participate in and support the planning and organization of events - Participate in committee meetings as required - Aid in developing relevant board and committee meeting content - Occasional evening and weekend work required - Perform additional tasks, as needed

Qualifications - Four-year Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related - A minimum of two years of work experience in position with similar responsibilities, including significant experience in the nonprofit sector. - Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to diverse audiences - A proven commitment to the mission of the Environmental Volunteers. - Detail-oriented with excellent editing/proofreading skills. Ability to produce error-free work - Knowledge of and keen interest in social media platforms - Excellent computer skills, familiarity with the Mac operating system and MS Office Suite - Self-sufficiency with ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and meet deadlines - Comfortable communicating with a variety of people in a professional manner. Excellent interpersonal skills, affinity for networking and demonstrated high level of confidence and poise, with a strong customer-service orientation. - Creative thinker and problem solver - Team player - High integrity - Creative design experience is a bonus, but not required
