Summary
Engility is recruiting for a Linux/Windows Systems Administrator to support our NOAA GFDL program in Princeton, NJ. This individual would support the Linux and Windows operatings systems within the High Performance Computing (HPC) domain within the labs at the NOAA facility.
Responsibilities
* Provide Mid-Tier to Top-Tier Systems Administration for clients and servers in a * Systems Administration (Maintain IT Security posture according to organization requirements, Manage rigorous patching schedule for all systems, Manage existing Patching deployment tools, Develop new automation tools and maintain and enhance current tools, * Install SW packages, compiling where necessary, Maintenance inventory of all assets and applications) * Tiered User Support (Respond to the most complex customer systems inquiries, Coach and working with Junior Admins to support lower level issues, Identify, evaluate, and prioritize customer problems to ensure that inquiries are resolved appropriately, * Write/update/enhance system documentation concerning problem resolutions and HPC assets) * Project Work (Work on several complex system projects simultaneously, Manage and actively report on project status using project management tools)
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Tangible Qualifications:** * B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field * MUST be adept at both Linux and Windows in a heterogeneous environment with a heavy Linux emphasis * 8+ years of experience Demonstrated proficiency in Linux and Windows administration (can included internships/etc.) * Demonstrated proficiency with scripting (shell / perl /bash / python/ruby) * Proficiency with configuration and support of access methods e.g. VPN, SSH tunneling * Excellent customer-facing communication and consultation skills (with managers and/or scientists) * Working knowledge of enterprise networks and storage systems (NAS, SAN) * Technical Writing Experience * Independent self-starter **Preferred Qualifications:** * Advanced Degree * Project Management Experience * Experience with medium to large server/data center environment
