Summary
The Senior Royalty Accountant is independently responsible for all accounting tasks related to content and publishing royalties. This individual is responsible for ensuring calculations are accurate, recording the royalty revenue/expense in the general ledger, reconciling all accrued balances and processing payments to all content providers. This role works directly with many organizations and levels within Crunchyroll, including but not limited to, Legal, Publishing, Senior Managers as well as the finance organization.
Responsibilities
* Independently manage all aspects of Royalty Accounting including upstream and downstream * Review and analyze royalty related contracts using discretion, and determine minimum guarantee (MG) commitments that could have a major impact on the Company’s cash flows * Ensure compliance with the terms of all Crunchyroll agreements with content providers * Account for content expenses, liabilities and related commitments using independent judgement * Account for sublicensing revenues, receivables and related matters * Work closely and support Japan personnel to manage upstream anime production investment * Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries, analysis and reconciliations * Ensure all monthly and quarterly payments are made to content providers and received from licensees in accordance with contracts * Coordinate quarterly and annual royalty review with senior managers and finance professionals * Provide support for royalty related audit requests * Prepare quarterly royalty statements, payments, and send out confirmation to publishers * Perform a variety of account reconciliations and other financials (GAAP) reporting on quarterly basis * Continuously improve royalties and payment processes. Implement and execute new processes for the overall efficiency * Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices * Assist the Finance team with other ad-hoc projects as needed
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance * 2+ years of work experience in royalty accounting * Proficient in Microsoft Office * Experience with Netsuite is a plus * Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize work * Able to work with all levels of management and staff * Attention to detail and high level of accuracy * Must be hands-on and roll up sleeves on a regular basis * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision * Ability to think outside the box and implement new and efficient procedures
