If you are interested in being considered for employment with a best-in-class healthcare company, please review the following opportunity: Delivery and Device Research & Development (DDR&D) designs, develops, and commercializes medical devices and container-closure systems in support of Lilly therapeutics. Packaging Development Engineers within DDR&D have the responsibility to develop packaging solutions for Lilly’s pipeline of new chemical entities and line extensions. This role functions in a product development setting and is focused on developing primary and critical secondary container-closure systems for finished drug products, bulk drug products, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The key container-closure systems supported by this role are bottle, blister and vial systems for oral and injectable products. Collaboration with secondary packaging and process/equipment engineering is necessary for robust packaging design and development. Other key partners for this position include Formulation/Analytical Development, Clinical Trials, Materials Management, Site Packaging Engineering, Regulatory, Human Factors, Device Engineering and Project Management. **Position Responsibilities:** **Project Leadership** * Represent DDR&D at CM&C and packaging platform team meetings * Document technical work in a timely and accurate manner * Ensure good communication and on-time deliverable for assigned projects **Package Qualification, Set-up and Platform Maintenance** * Design, develop and qualify container-closure systems * Create packaging component specifications and incoming testing methods * Interface with suppliers, procurement, materials management and operations (clinical and commercial) **Packaging Stability and User Centric Design** * Lead characterization and packaging screening studies * Understand product formulation and analytical challenges * Recommend packaging systems for primary stability campaigns * Understand and apply packaging laws and guidance * Author development history reports and regulatory submission modules * Execute child resistant and usability testing on container-closure systems **New Technology** * Identify opportunities to improve packaging material/process costs, cycle times, and compliance (design for manufacturability) * Explore new packaging materials, methods, instrumentation, and equipment
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications** * BS Engineering or relevant scientific field with at least 5 years of experience in product development and/or manufacturing * Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
