Summary
The Data Scientist position is part of the Data Science team within the Global Analytics and Insights group in Electronic Art’s Global Marketing Organization. A successful candidate will use his or her expertise in statistical modeling and machine learning to drive critical decisions in a cross-functional environment. For a more senior candidate there will be opportunities for project management and mentoring of junior data scientists.
Responsibilities
* Perform advanced statistical/machine learning analyses on customer databases and other sources * Research, design, implement and validate models and cutting edge algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data * Manage and deliver business-driving analytical projects * Present results to business leaders, product managers and other analysts * Provide expertise on quantitative modeling for the broader analytics group * Communicate actionable results and findings derived from data throughout the organization in a clear, concise way * Collaborate with other areas of the business on long-term projects * Learn, implement and share new methodologies
Ideal Candidate
* Master’s degree required, strongly quantitative graduate degree preferred in Computer Science (with emphasis on Machine Learning), Statistics, Marketing (with a quantitative focus), Sociology (with a quantitative focus), Economics, Mathematics * Demonstrated experience applying Data Science methodologies to real world problems * Experience in scaling up smaller projects and sharing work collaboratively across a wider team * The ability to produce re-usable work that can be shared across individuals and teams * Expert status in analyzing extremely large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets with a variety of tools * Accomplished in use of R or other statistical programing environment to create high performance predictive models * Programming experience in a system programming language such as Python, C/C++, Java * Experience using in SQL to query databases * Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig is a big plus * Expertise and practical experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, survival analysis, consumer lifetime value models, clustering, data reduction techniques and customer/product segmentation * Experience with attribution models, media mix models and forecasting using time series and individual level data * Sufficient data warehouse and non-relational data techniques knowledge to work effectively with engineering partners * Ability to communicate insights using PowerPoint, Word and Excel to technical and non-technical audiences
