Summary

The position requires an experienced mold designer with expertise in the use of Moldflow analysis for product and tooling evaluations prior to design release. The candidate shall be responsible for analyzing a tool design to determine its robustness, planning, and managing the tool build alongside product design and purchasing associates.

Responsibilities
  • Interactive member of technical cross-functional teams providing technical expertise, innovation and teamwork.
  • Develops, and coordinates all activities related to the introduction of new tools.
  • Manages all project costs related to the acquisition of Mold tools.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies related to design and manufacturing.
  • Coordinates tool design reviews in assigned projects.
  • Schedules periodic project status updates.
  • Knows and uses various financial and management systems to track mold builds. (Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Provides project estimated costs, delivery and resource timing to program managers.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Moldflow analysis
  • Proficient in the use and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance
  • Proficient in the use of CAD software such as Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Design for manufacturability
  • Material knowledge
  • Mold design and processing
  • Expert level knowledge of various tool manufacturing processes
  • Analysis interpretation of SPC data
Ideal Candidate

Required Skills and Experience

  • Mold design
  • Polymer processing a plus
  • Servo motion systems
  • CAD proficiency
  • Brainstorming

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the related field.
  • Proficient in CAD computer engineering and internal business systems
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of statistical quality assessment tools associated with high volume manufacturing
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior technical writing skills
  • Interaction with product concepts from manufacturing into production.

Working Relationships & Environment

  • Reports to Manager Tool engineering EPC,
  • Key relationships internally will include Program Managers, Marketing, Global Brand Development, and Product Development. External engagement will include mold, machine and material vendors.
