Summary
This position provides group facilitation for the Strengthening Families Program. This includes ensuring successful relationships of clients by supporting community building efforts, providing group and individual counseling and developing goal plans for clients.
Responsibilities
* Ensure program operates in accordance with Eckerd’s policy and DSS contract and policy manual. * Work with community stakeholders to educate them and the community at large about the program. Manage referral data base and assign new families to groups. * Define and maintain cooperative ties with community institutions in order to meet the needs of program participants. * Manage coordination of SFP groups by ensuring group times are well communicated and Group Facilitators and child care staff are scheduled. * Manage program funds. This includes but is not limited to ordering food for groups, providing parents with transportation assistance and issuing gift cards to families at the completion of treatment. * Ensure program client files are maintained in accordance with Eckerd policy and contract requirements; Maintain records of parental and child release forms for each program participant. * Serve as member of community advisory council; recruit additional council members.
Ideal Candidate
* Education – Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in a related field. * Experience – Minimum of 2 years experience working with families and children, experience with group instructional skills for implementing parent/child sessions, knowledge of child development, parenting, and family dynamics, SFP 6-11 training certification or be willing and able to attend training. * Skills – Genuine, warm, creative and empathic, have a love for people and the program philosophy, self awareness and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, demonstrate sensitivity to families’ feelings while also maintaining order and imparting key skills covered in the curriculum, knowledge and experience regarding child development, behavior management, and group process, ability to multi-task and follow-up on issues and concerns that arise. * Physical Demands – Availability to work nights and weekends if necessary; must be free of communicable disease as defined by the appropriate state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under the law. * Other – Must have appropriate and valid driver’s license and current car insurance. Must meet state criminal background check requirements. Serves as a positive role model for youth, parents, and staff at all times through appearance, attitude, and behavior. * Travel – Required travel to site location, may require travel for trainings, may require providing transportation for families to group sessions. Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
