Summary
This position provides child care for the group participants for Strengthening Families Program. This includes ensuring safety and well being of children by being knowledgeable and having experience in child development, behavior management, and being trained in first aid and CPR.
Responsibilities
* Lead structured, organized child’s play and recreational activities such as games. * Observe child’s play and activities. * Read to children and teach them simple drawings, paintings, and songs. * Help children with homework. * Assist in preparing refreshments for children. * Attend to children’s needs such as bathroom and eating. * Maintain structure and order during the duration of the parents groups sessions to allow parent/caregiver opportunity to fully participate in the group sessions. * Assist site coordinator and group facilitators with meal preparation, setting up for group sessions, and cleaning up facility after group sessions. * Sanitize toys and games after each session * Redirect children in a positive manner, time out, use positive reinforcement if child is disturbing the group, never leave child unattended, if necessary, ask the site coordinator for assistance
Ideal Candidate
A. Education – High school diploma. B. Experience – At least a year experience working with children/adolescents in a childcare setting. C. Skills – ability to work with children/adolescents, creative, patient and caring. D. Physical Demands – ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds, able to stand/walk for long periods of time. E. Other – Must meet state criminal background check requirements. F. Travel – Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must maintain appropriate and valid state driver's license.
