Summary
As the Head of Technical Operations for eBay Advertising, you’ll be managing the group responsible for building and operating our state-of-the-art software systems production environment. We have 1000+ servers in multiple data centers across the country.
Responsibilities
* Plan, direct and coach managers and individual contributors on developing and maintaining the Tech Ops infrastructure * Recruit strong team members from industry experts * Own end to end site availability and performance * Manage the budget for technical operations and deliver goals within budget * Understand the many high performance software components comprising eBay Advertising’s platform along with their interdependencies * Collaborate with product development, product management, business, and QA leaders on architecture, requirements and the implementation of product features related to reliability, quality, and data collection * Lead various teams on tool building and infrastructure necessary to maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and alerting systems. Automate everywhere * Support technical design reviews and provide strong architectural input to feature design * Work in an Agile development environment * Work with product development and other management to create project roadmaps and team strategy * Be a team player ready for fast-paced growth and tremendous business expansion
Ideal Candidate
* Knowledgeable in technical operations or DevOps best practices for consumer Internet infrastructure and 10+ years of experience in the field, preferably using open source and Linux based environment * 5+ years in successfully managing a technical operations team size of 10+, including leading managing / mentoring other line managers * Knowledge of current industry best practices around DevOps, instrumentation, fault tolerance, and monitoring * Strong team spirit and track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with product management and development teams on large projects * Excellent verbal and written communications skills * Excellent people and project management skills * Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in computer engineering
