Responsibilities
* This position supports the operations process in providing and maintaining service to new and existing customers by maintaining a working knowledge of distribution system, computer system, tools, equipment, and material. The position should demonstrate proficiency in the day-to-day operations and specifications of the distribution system and in the general understanding of basic distribution engineering. In addition to normal work, position must be available to be on-call as required, take first-call (demonstrated ability to work independently), and to work all hours as needed, day or night, weekends or holidays, to perform work required during planned outages, non-pay reconnects or emergency situations. This position should demonstrate leadership within the work group in promoting safety, incorporating Human Performance fundamentals, developing craft and technical skills in others. The position must perform all duties in a safe manner and adhere to all Company safety rules and procedures. * The position demonstrates the ability to analyze problems, propose recommendations, interpret a variety of instructions and perform complex tasks to resolve practical problems. Demonstrate the ability to handle situations requiring the search for solutions were limited standardization exist through previous experience, work standards, or as directed by supervision. Able to coordinate and plan work schedules to meet operational goals and ensure safety, customer satisfaction and productivity.
Ideal Candidate
* Basic/Required Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent * Valid class A CDL * Experienced climber * Minimum of 3 years of distribution line and service work: familiar with and understand the electrical distribution system and have troubleshooting skills and ability to assess level or repair required. * Desired Qualifications: * Experience working on secondary voltage * Experience working with customers * Understanding of overhead and underground * Working knowledge of a work management system * Know, adhere to, and demonstrate leadership in promoting personal and work group safety practices to prevent accidents and injuries. * Demonstrate proficiency in constructing, maintaining, and operating the distribution system, and to ensure public safety and customer satisfaction * Clear written and oral communication skills * Specific Requirements * DOT Certification * DOT Physical * Respirator Clearance * This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading. * Work schedule requires working various shifts as business needs arise * Position has on-call responsibilities as scheduled and generally available at others times as needed, demonstrate the ability to work independently, and to work all hours as needed, day or night, weekends or holidays, and in all weather conditions to perform work required during planned and emergency outages * Requires ability to travel and stay overnight to various locations and work extended hours to assist in major storm restoration * Must live within 30 minutes of hiring operations center. Relocation is at the expense of the applicant.
