Summary
Architects are responsible for ensuring the technical direction of applications and solutions both within and across business area portfolios while ensuring strong alignment with the business strategy. Their skills span technical and enterprise architecture and they may work on complex deliverables or architecting new enterprise assets. In both cases, their role is to ensure strategic objectives are met and that they provide the link between the enterprise architecture strategy, technology roadmap, and the delivery teams. Architects ensure strategic enterprise architecture is realized and informed by the lessons learned from prior solutions. This position will report to the Director, IT Network Services and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Analyze internal and external partner requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework * Develop technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy * Recommend network standards for use by all architects * Recommend accurate resource forecasting and milestones for projects * Write functional requirements and specification documents * Perform network design, modeling, analysis, and planning * Interface with technology vendors, staying abreast of how technology infrastructures are evolving, impacting, and driving competitors * Capture innovative ideas while pragmatically integrating into overall architecture * Foster trusting relationships with internal and external partners to solicit honest, timely, and comprehensive ideas and feedback * Solve complex problems with many variables
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 7 to 10 years engineering and architecting information technology solutions; Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, computer science or relevant field preferred; advanced industry certifications a plus * Expert knowledge of products and services provided by, but not limited to, vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, F5, and Akamai * Expert knowledge of LAN, WAN, CAN, Datacenter, security, wireless, voice, and video technologies * Demonstrate ability to align cross functional teams promoting outcomes * Apply problem solving and design making techniques to build understanding and agreement among stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes * Work with internal clients and partners to understand business needs, offer advice and solutions and operating from a position of expertise balanced with a collaborative approach * Able to balance requirements from business, operations, and industry trends to facilitate solutions that deliver ongoing capabilities * Attention to detail, ability to meet multiple deadlines and adapt (or flex) to changing priorities * Excellent analytical, problem solving, and time management skills * Ability to make timely and effective decisions based on sound judgment and business rationale * Evaluate new technologies, analyze, and explain cost and benefits * Strong ability to work with and leverage business partners on designing appropriate solutions * Ability to analyze problems and solve them with practical, cost effective, and reliable solutions that meet business needs * Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills * Experience with SOX and PCI compliance to architect solutions that meet the respective controls and requirements
