Intern - Technical Writing

DRS Technologies is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. Focused on defense technology, we develop, manufacture and support a broad range of systems for mission critical and military sustainment requirements, as well as homeland security.

This Technical Writer internship position will support Business Development in the preparation of power distribution efforts. Duties include creating outlines of various volumes, compilation of technical data, written narratives regarding the DRS solution and benefits to the customer, proposal compliance to requirements, and proofreading of other author sections.

* Compile technical information and formats it to meet specific standards. * Draft routine documents and sections of documents for review. * Assist in general layout of materials for publication. * Edit technical documents to ensure that they follow specific formatting requirements and standards of quality and style. * May draw sketches to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence * Become familiar with product technologies and production methods * Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology * Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding * Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization * Interpret conceptual designs and develop written narratives regarding the DRS solution and benefits to the customer * Check proposal compliance to requirements * Proofreading of author sections across volumes for consistency.
