Summary
The Industrial Designer is a key member of the Product Development team. Create distinctive new product concepts in-line with brand ambitions, lead industrial design and concept activities of projects, and be responsible for researching trends and bringing them to life.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and quality cross-functional team members to identify opportunities, solve design issues, and preserve design intent throughout a project. Develop products using conceptual sketching, rapid prototyping, 2D/3D CAD modeling and photorealistic rendering visualization software tools. Work with Marketing counterpart to research and test product ideas for proof of concept. Follow trends and news in the “Internet of Things” landscape. Understand the Safety 1st consumer and brand objectives on a global scale. Follow established project budgets and schedules for development. Maintain and evolve Safety 1st design language; collaborate with Marketing to develop the brand globally. Understand the principles of good research methods and consumer testing. Stay on top of industry design tool developments. Document and disclose all inventions for Intellectual Property clearance.
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor degree in Industrial Design or related field along with minimum 5+ years of experience designing and creating innovative consumer products. 2D and 3D CAD software including Solidworks and Keyshot. Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes a must. Portfolio of product demonstrating thoughtful problem solving as well as simple and elegant styling required. Experience working on smart or connected consumer products controlled with an App. Experience with GUI and Op-sequence Design. Prior experience designing wearables, smart-home devices, or other lifestyle iOT products. Experience with IP for global product development.
