Doosan GridTech™ delivers control system software and power system engineering services to help distribution utilities integrate distributed energy resources, such as solar and wind power, into the grid. Our control software for energy storage systems (ESSs) runs patent-pending algorithms that help utilities maintain power quality on circuits impacted by solar and other renewables, while taking full advantage of energy storage and other distributed energy resources.
Summary
We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a Technical Product Manager. Use your engineering and leadership skills to design and develop innovative software products that enable grid-integrated clean energy, including solar PV and energy storage. Work closely with our utility customers and engineers through all aspects of product definition, design, development and delivery, and see your solutions deployed with real-world power system operators. We require customer engagement and listening skills, power system engineering skills, ability to collaborate and build consensus, and a solid grasp of the professional software development process. Desired capabilities are a strong plus.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with our electric utility customers, Product Management, Software Engineering, Power Engineering, Project Delivery and Sales to define, design, develop and deliver advanced software and information technology products that reliably and economically integrate distributed energy resources into the grid. In particular, work closely with our power engineers, project engineers and customers to identify and harvest valuable product features embedded within our customer project deliverables. Successfully navigate inherent tensions between our project responsibilities and our product and market objectives, and help to scale this process as our company grows. * Proactively initiate product and feature concepts, and detailed technical designs. * Proactively and collaboratively manage trade-offs between desired product features and engineering / development resources to ensure timely delivery. * Author and ensure creation of specifications to support the above goals. * Author and ensure creation of intellectual property disclosures; support patent filings. * Help to secure and manage industry R&D projects that support the above goals. * Drive cross-team coordination, communications and consensus to support the above goals.
Ideal Candidate
**Required** * Strong customer engagement and listening skills. * Strong power system engineering skills. * Collaborative, consensus-driven approach. * Experience delivering technology-driven products (hardware or software) for the electric grid. * Experience working on utility-focused product design or power systems engineering projects. * Understanding of dynamics of distributed energy resources within electric grid operations. * Excellent analytical skills, judgment and ability to drive trade-off decisions. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work with a small, fast-paced team to deliver customer value. * Willingness to travel periodically. **Desired** * Solid grasp of software development process, its leverage points and limitations. * Working knowledge of professional software development tools. * Knowledge of electric utility substation and electrical distribution system design. * Knowledge of utility protection and control engineering design principles. * Knowledge of utility Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) operations. * Knowledge of utility communication systems, including SCADA. * Experience working on utility-scale energy storage system design. * Experience generating intellectual property (IP) and creating IP documentation. **Qualifications** * 2+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system engineering. Experience on utility electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource projects is strongly preferred. * BS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 5+ years of direct engineering experience within an electric utility; or, MS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 2+ years of direct engineering experience. * Solid working knowledge of professional software development.
