Summary

We're expanding our data engineering team and looking for a person who will participate in building a data warehouse from scratch for a young and fast growing startup. We need someone who can be our data extraction superhero and help our team dig information out of a MySQL backend database, as well as different log files and 3rd party data sources using APIs.

Responsibilities

You will be creating ETL jobs and scripts as well and should not be afraid of installing required tools and libraries on linux boxes, setting up data connections, and creating database structures. You should have a background in data analytics to support our team of Data Analysts.

We primarily use Open Source products (Pentaho PDI and MySQL on linux) and Redshift as a DW database, so experience working with open source tools and products required. This role assumes willingness to wear multiple hats at work (data extraction, ETL development, DW infrastructure support).

Ideal Candidate

* 3-5 years of total experience (preferable data analyst or ETL developer)
* Expert level SQL knowledge
* Programming and/or scripting languages knowledge (not a developer but ability to write scripts)
* Linux/Unix shell and utilities knowledge
* Working experience with open source systems/tools

**Would love a candidate with:**

* Experience developing ETL processes, preferable using open source tools
* Pentaho Kettle aka PDI experience
* MySQL and/or Redshift exposure
* Startup experience
* B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Science, relevant majors or equivalent work experience
