Responsibilities
* Provide department-level technical and administrative oversight for the system design, engineering, installation and commissioning for ride control systems being developed for or installed in the Disney Resorts; this oversight includes Disney employees, leased workers, contractors and ride vendors * Technically capable to execute and lead all of the hardware and software development; prototyping; simulation; capacity optimization and facility inputs for a single “C” or “D” level attraction * Enforce ride engineering policies and procedures at a department level * Understand and review software and hardware designs for Disney’s ride control systems * Ensures that all the design specifications have been met, design reviews conducted with good participation from all concerned stakeholders, and that all tests have been conducted at the factory and the site, all installed software has been catalogued, and change control policies and procedures are established and followed * Support Facility design for equipment details such as utilities including electrical power and equipment cooling/heating loads * Troubleshoot and resolve installation conflicts, interferences and other problems * Technically capable to execute and lead all of the hardware and software development, prototyping, simulation, capacity optimization, and facility inputs for a single "D” or “E” level attraction * Technically capable to execute and lead all of the hardware and software development, prototyping, simulation, capacity optimization, and facility inputs for one (more complex) or two "D" or "E" level attractions including new invention * Develop detailed task based estimates (labor and material) for ride control systems from design through commissioning * Responsible as the Ride Control Design Assurance Engineer for multiple attractions * Provide technical leadership, creativity and optimization in the design, engineering production, installation, and commissioning of ride control systems * Provide direction * Assigning jobs tasks * Mentor * Project(s): Provide technical oversight to projects that have some form of a ride control system; this could range up to 10 projects at any given time * Able to guide staff to work cooperatively with others in a spirit of teamwork
Ideal Candidate
* Able to understand and implement the basics for the control system design * Some knowledge and familiarity with relevant Industrial Standards * Some knowledge of Programmable Controllers and General Purpose Computers used in industrial applications * Ability to assist in the writing of technical documents such as Theory of Operations, Software Design Plans, Software Design Documents, Acceptance test Procedures and Requirements Specifications * Able to provide technical guidance at a systems software and hardware level * Knowledge and familiarity with relevant Industrial Standards * Extensive knowledge of Programmable Controllers and General Purpose Computers used in industrial applications * Scheduling Methods / Experience * Estimating Methods / Experience * Manage & Supplement Vendor * System Integration * Creative Translator - Clean Sheet Design * Field Integration (Test & Adjust) * Engineering Analysis & Simulation * Disney Show Control Sys. Arch * Packaging• UL / NEC / ASTM * Knowledge with both hardware and software design and implementation techniques * Ability to work with a large ride team to implement and assist with mocks-ups and reviews * Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to a wide body of audiences **Required Education** * As a minimum a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited University * MBA preferred
