* Drive the creation of social content strategy plans and execute across Discovery Channel, Science Channel, and Animal Planet
* Drive an understanding of metrics and use of metrics to inform digital strategy
* Drive monetization strategy, in partnership with ad sales
* Drive partnership across Discovery Digital Networks (DDN) and other stakeholder partnerships such as Curiosity, the Dodo, and 3rd party Discovery Communication equity partners
* Be a creative storytelling champion for the social digital strategy, in partnership with network production and marketing leaders
* Conceptualize, scale, pre-produce, and oversee compelling digital content productions (i.e. social content, infographics, video and other forms of digital content)
* Develop creative, strategically aligned content that capitalizes on emerging and up and coming trends and strategies
* Manage Discovery Channel, Science Channel and Animal Planet's social media data management platform, including owning platform configuration to support DSC, SCI, and APL priorities, standards, measurement framework and reporting objectives.
* Liaise with the vendor as well as functional partners internally on all contract and other vendor management matters; monitoring vendor performance relative to SOW terms; organizing quarterly business reviews with vendor and key internal stakeholders.
* Manage platform access and training authorized users; consulting on and coordinating the development of tools, widgets, API integrations and other functionality to support DSC, SCI, and APL social media objectives.
* Monitor and drive competitive and industry best practices as well as lessons from DDN-executed social media programs to refresh and update trainings, playbooks, standards and related internal guidance documents on at least an annual basis, or as needed.
* Provide thought leadership, share best practices and consult with DDN and other internal Digital teams to share best practices across Discovery Communications Inc.
* Recruit, develop and retain top digital content talent * Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field required
* Minimum 8 years' work experience in social media from a marketing and technology perspective * An active and engaged member of the digital community (social media, blogging, writing, etc.) is a plus
* Work experience in Entertainment / Television a plus
* Knowledge of, passion for and experience working in digital/social media
* Broad-based thinking about new and innovative ways that brands can engage with existing and prospective Clients in social
* Deep knowledge of social media platforms, in terms of managing a branded identity as well as marketing and targeting capabilities available to brands
* Proven experience implementing social media continuity programs and campaigns leveraging paid, owned and earned tactics across multiple social platforms
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to look at the broader perspective as it relates to business strategy
* Experience managing multiple external agencies/vendors to consistently and effectively deliver world-class strategies based on consumer insights with measureable results
* Strong interpersonal skills, influence management and collaborative working style - ability to inspire, motivate and lead cross-functional teams to achieve goals
* Results driven, ensuring short-term goals are achieved that support long-term initiatives
