Summary
We are looking for a sharp, creative, highly-motivated Executive Producer/Director to join the Discovery Digital Team that will act as senior level presence in our NY office. The Executive Producer will be primarily responsible for partnering with cross-functional network executives, developing and implementing the creative vision for the Animal Planet and Science brands and shows including: websites, social accounts. Role will require building audience and engagement, tracking analytics and growth, and seamlessly integrating social media with cross-platform access to shows and content. He or she will lead, produce, maintain and manage dozens of initiatives and stakeholders at a time while directing implementation of a small team of content strategists / producers.
Responsibilities
* Partners with cross-functional leadership across two networks to drive promotional support and monetization efforts of digital platforms * Develops and drives content and audience strategy across Animal Planet and Science brand: develops, builds and manages online content * Provides strategic and operational thought leadership necessary to prioritize and resource projects, while developing and empowering junior-level team members and managing team in day-to-day activities * Manages freelance writers, outside contractors and vendors * Works in conjunction with and oversees efforts of a highly matrixed organization across functions and stakeholder groups (sales, PR, marketing, TV production, legal & business affairs, video, product) * Represents the digital team in meetings with talent, marketing, communications, outside production companies, Senior Staff meetings and all levels of network production * Explores new methods of converging online and TV content and promotional efforts to create seamless experiences for fans * Stays current with latest technology and software applications to maintain high level of content/experience that keeps pace with audience expectations * Monitors consumer feedback and audience trends and advises appropriate DCI departments accordingly in addition to adjusting online editorial content as necessary * Coordinates and works closely with ad sales and marketing teams to maximize revenue opportunities and develop new, unique sponsorship opportunities * Creates sponsorship opportunities for Ad Sales clients. If sponsored, works with the client and Ad Sales to create high-quality web content that supports the client’s goals. * Ensures that all editorial content published to the Web site(s) has been cleared legally and meets the standards of the Discovery Brand
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will think strategically to manage key Animal Planet, and Science Channel franchises, develop content through an established brand filter, collaborate with video teams and editors to produce compelling video and content optimized for digital and social platforms, and have strong writing and editing skills. The role is laser focused on growing the brand and reach for APL and SCI The abilities to operate strategically, multi-task, manage projects against tight deadlines, and proof one’s own creative outputs are a must. * 10+ years’ experience in TV digital, online/interactive media or equivalent * Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social/Digital Media, Journalism, Communications or related field * Proficiency with MS Office suite, online tracking/reporting tools (Omniture), performance metrics and analytics, online content management and publishing systems * Bridges creative and logic; provides editorial and creative guidance under budget and time constraints, prioritizes efforts and budgets to achieve optimal results * Strong track record in growing social accounts and audience development * Savviness with working and collaborating alongside multiple stakeholders and share ownership of projects * Confident and assertive demeanor when partnering with executive-level stakeholders * Strategic thinking, management to data/results and business acumen is a must * Ability to multitask; juggle multiple projects and priorities * Experience in managing a team and working in a matrixed environment * Must have the legal right to work in the United States
