The Business Development Representative (BDR) drives growth in Digital Realty | Telx services and solutions. The BDR qualifies and prioritizes leads and prospects by articulating the Digital Realty | Telx message and understanding customer needs and requirements. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively. The BDR works directly with demand generation, marketing operations, and marketing to follow-up on inbound inquiries, nurture programs, and shares feedback on local market campaign effectiveness. This position will also interact with the field sales and channel teams to develop selling strategies, share progress and assess the opportunities on strategic, targeted campaigns. Since the BDR interacts with current and prospective clients, good business judgment and skills are crucial. While this is not a sales position, high performers may be considered for a transition to a sales role.
- Qualify and follow up with inbound inquiries produced from marketing and lead generation campaigns to ensure that valuable sales time is focused on high probability leads.
- Follow-up on marketing programs and campaigns to further qualify and penetrate accounts, and articulate the Digital Realty | Telx message
- Work with Demand Gen and Marketing Operations to share the results of local market campaigns and share suggestions to improve the success of future campaigns
- Develop potential selling strategies based on research and general business acumen
- Perform intelligence gathering on Accounts and prospects
- Support other Marketing initiatives to grow sales of products and services from new accounts
- Work with the sales team to prioritize efforts, refine selling strategies, share results, and plan next steps
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Candidates must have two-four years of corporate sales experience
- One-two years’ experience in telecom sector and/or data center, colocation, and/or cloud marketplace preferred
- Candidates must have at least six months experience working in a prospecting role (Business Development, Inside Sales, Telemarketing, etc.)
- Desired applicants will have knowledge of business organizational structures, sales, sales processes, and familiarity with CRM systems, Salesforce.com preferred
- Excellent business judgment, effective at articulating value propositions to customers.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently
- Ability to work in teams to develop strategies and action plans, and to share results. Ability to build and manage relationships with sales personnel
- Comfort with interacting with potential clients on the telephone and over email
