Responsibilities
This position will work directly with our Designers, Product Mangers, Central America team & Hong Kong team, providing clear communication to teams that ensure procurement supports design direction and enable commercial success. The Fabric Manager also finds or develops the correct fabric and materials according to calendar timelines, target price, and quality standards. Manages the R&D processes for all seasonal fabrics, providing technical fabric assistance to designers and sourcing teams in support of product development. Ensure 100% accuracy on all development documentation for adopted fabrics, including pricing, and treatments. Communicates information and raises any issues to all related internal parties, mills & suppliers. Ensure material data is entered correctly in FlexPLM. Maintain the material library and work on continuously improvement and how fabrics are being maintained. Maintenance of the fabric development timeline to ensure that time and action calendar dates are being adhered to. Lead all cross-functional discussions related to materials by steering material selection process, coaching teams on how to improve material efficiencies. Assist in identifying fabrics for our core replenishment programs are maintained. Target 60% carryover rate goal for fabric. Monitor all material development (work together with suppliers & sourcing) for initial material price negotiations with suppliers (CA partners) during development process. Responsibilities include but not limited to: * Building a working relationship with Design, Product Managers, Merchants, & Suppliers to proactively manage the fabric requirements relative to manufacturability, performance, quality, cost, lead-times and minimums. * Maintain awareness of trend and innovation. Execute the fabric development process for assigned products, with emphasis on as well as timely completion of all tasks in accordance with calendar. Work closely with development testing department to ensure all selected materials are tested and approved in accordance with timeline/ calendar. * Work closely with sourcing partners (Central America & Asia) to maintain a focused and relevant fabric supply matrix that allows for design innovation while still meeting expectations with, quality, price, speed of delivery in addition to good informative service. * Provides options for injecting newness into ongoing programs by researching innovative fibers, new technologies and finishing techniques which will add value to current collection. * Constantly research the market, identify emerging trends from an R&D perspective and any potential opportunities. Be the Key Contact and consultant for all material related questions for all internal teams.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's Degree- Degree in textile engineering or comparable degree/ education. - 7-10 Years of Experience- Minimum of 5 years of experience in textile manufacturing or development knowledge of manufacturing process & fabrics. - Complete understanding of technical & manufacturing side of product development (fiber, yarn manufacturing, fabric construction, finishing, costing). - Experience with both design and mill/vendor development for fabrics, including technical fabrics - Proficient in the development of fabric and garment washes. - Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills - Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving abilities
