Summary
DHL Global Forwarding manages the flow of goods and information across a customer's global supply chain utilizing air/ocean/ground transportation, customs brokerage services, and dedicated warehousing/distribution centers. We are part of Deutsche Post DHL, the world’s leading logistics provider with operations in over 220 countries.
Responsibilities
* Manages and drives performance of a team of Import Operations Specialists * Processes, handles, distributes all required documents in the receiving area * Ensures customer requirements are met and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements * Ensures documents are completed and updated in a timely and efficient manner and according to regulations and internal procedures * Acts as subject matter expert for AFR/OFR Operations questions * Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required **Main tasks & key responsibilities:** * Organizes, splits and plans day-to-day work of Import Operations Specialists * Supervises Transactional Operations in the receiving area (delivery arrangement, planning and follow-up of shipment in the receiving area) * Arranges delivery * Ensures handling of required Import documents according to regulations and internal procedures * Follows-up shipment status in the Import area, identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents * Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution * Creates, builds and maintains excellent relationships with key suppliers * Continuously monitors supplier performance and develops improvement plan when required * Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department * Creates, builds and maintains relationships with other internal functions (e.g. Capacity * Management, OCC, Sales, Customer Service) and acts as subject matter expert for ad hoc operational questions with regards to accounts which are being serviced * Ensures that proper implementation of customer has been conducted before Operations is starting regular business service * Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
Ideal Candidate
* Extensive knowledge of AFR/OFR Import Operations * Fit for people management role (communication, motivation and interpersonal skills) * Demonstrates strong communication capabilities * Easily capable of making well informed decisions * BS/BA and 3-5 years experience in related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience
