Receptionist

Founded in 2005 and opening our first school in 2006, Democracy Prep set out to prove what is possible for public education in America. Ten years later, we started the 2015-16 school year with 17 schools and one program delivering transformational results to more than 5,000 scholars across the country.

First and foremost, we’re looking for people who share our unwavering commitment to the Democracy Prep mission of college success and authentic civic engagement for our scholars. Beyond that, we want people who are hungry, humble, and smart. Our Receptionists are people with an affinity for organization, communication, teamwork, and flexibility.

• Ensures that daily student attendance and other required data is recorded in student information systems.
• Interfaces with students and families on a regular basis in both Spanish and English.
• Calls all late/absent students each morning.
• Coordinates communications/notices home to parents in both Spanish and English.
• Assists with student recruitment and open houses for parents.
• Answers phones and e-mails.
• Coordinates ordering office supplies.
• Sorts/delivers mail, opening when appropriate.
• Ensures office is clean, organized, and welcoming to parents, staff, visitors, and students.
• Maintains inventory and processes student requests for uniforms.
• Works with school vendors and assists with facilities management as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Related work experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, strongly preferred.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative.
