Summary
The Program Manager is a subject matter expert in Global Logistics & Transportation. To be successful a candidate would need to have experience in multiple types of transportation and experience procuring transportation services within a corporate environment.
Responsibilities
* The position requires extensive knowledge of various business units' transportation plan, and is responsible for acting as a liaison between the assigned business unit and the transportation/cargo division for comat (company material) logistics. The position will partner with business unit leaders to help develop and deliver strategic changes to the business units transportation processes. * This position will be heavily involved in the analytics on cross-divisional transportation spend and associated projects. * This position will work closely with divisional and corporate finance staff to identify cost savings opportunities against divisional transportation budgets ranging from $44 Million to $70 Million, depending on the assigned division. * Position will also support other Delta divisions, including but not limited to: ACS, Flight Ops, Supply Chain, Cargo, InFlight, and TechOps. * In addition to becoming a subject matter expert in divisional transportation expense, this position will provide economic analysis on current and future transportation options to reduce overall costs in the sea freight, air freight, ground, and express networks of the various divisions. * Position will work closely with US Space Control, Asia Space Control, and cargo operations to ensure visibility to service level requirements. * This position requires some travel. * Position will also act as a liaison for local transportation and Customs strategies across the globe, manage service levels of transportation providers, and propose additional ways to integrate cross divisional transportation needs. * This person will also be responsible for developing service KPI's for the cargo's division of handling CoMat to assigned business units. * Responsibilities also include the purchasing of trucking, ground transportation, air, and ocean in the spot market where appropriate. * Position is part of the overall transportation desk at Delta Air Lines. * Position will guide Supply Chain management and other divisions on evaluating and implementing technological solutions around enhanced data collection and transportation strategy for assigned business units. * Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, supply chain or related field is required. * MBA is preferred. * 5 or more years of experience in Freight Forwarding with exposure to air & ocean freight is required. * Knowledge of Customs & Brokerage strongly preferred. * Must be a highly motivated, proactive leader and have an ability to implement change. * Must demonstrate the ability to influence internal and external organizations to achieve corporate goals, including the ability to influence and manage upward as necessary. * Must be highly proficient in written and oral communications and be able to produce concise, relevant, strategically driven documents and presentations to senior leaders. * Proven track record of problem solving skills and ability to use analytical tools is required, while analytic experience in the areas of logistics, air, sea freight, and trucking is strongly preferred. * Knowledge of Delta's cargo operating system and cargo processes is strongly preferred but not necessary. * Experience implementing lean, six sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is preferred. * Demonstrated experience in managing complex processes within cross-functional teams. * Must have an ability to manage and execute multiple priorities in a timely manner across multiple projects. * Experience with finance budgets, economic analysis, and measuring cost saving targets is preferred. * Knowledge of Delta's domestic and international network strongly preferred. * Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel.
