Summary
The High Performance Computing Solutions Architect will have the ability to lead architectural efforts for any customer, regardless of size and scope. As part of an enterprise planning team, the HPC Solutions Architect possesses the knowledge of business requirements as well as an understanding of the many disciplines that make up modern HPC architectures. They will be part of the pre-sales team and will partner with the Enterprise Sales Specialist & Account Executives to ensure success within their territory and region. In addition, the person will be a corporate-wide resource, speaking at and participating in user events and internal training on HPC. This would ideally be located in Texas or Illinois. Will consider other Midwest locations. Successful candidate will work with HPC and sales teams in the central and southern United States. This role is quota-carrying and requires the sales maker to partner with the front line account teams to get their trust and that of the customer for rapidly growing and scaling the business to its fullest potential.
Responsibilities
* Quota-carrying technical sales resource teamed with Enterprise Technical Sales team members to advance Dell’s HPC solutions and offers presence in the respective region * Develop customer opportunity and recommend/sell Dell’s HPC solutions spanning industry and research. * Focused on driving in-country/regional sales plan for the HPC solutions portfolio * Establish and cultivate ongoing business relationships with customers and Business Partners to facilitate additional HPC business opportunities. * Conduct and/or participate in product presentations, demos, evaluations and ROI analyses directed at current or prospective channel partners. * Act as technical liaison between partner and Dell on presales situations, solution requirements and future product direction for the partner’s market * Expected to stay current on technology, competitive marketplace & provide constant feedback to BDMs/Solutions Strategists & product groups * Will be a solutions evangelist which will include presales training, presenting to internal stakeholders, sales teams or channel partners. * Advance Dell HPC solutions and business value, increase industry exposure through presentations and speaking engagements across key industry events, establish & foster relationship with global industry.
Ideal Candidate
* 5 + years of HPC experience in a business development and/or pre-sales engineering capacity with a strong emphasis on driving HPC solutions targeted at various market verticals like manufacturing, life sciences, oil & gas, & weather forecasting. * Familiarity with HPC systems hardware architecture, network interconnect technologies and topologies and be able to effectively communicate the pros and cons to a prospect. * Awareness of various HPC benchmarks like Linpack, Stream, SpecInt, SpecFP, PTRANS, NAMD, MM5 Weather Model etc * Awareness of HPC programming tools, compilers, debuggers, profilers and workflows including programming languages like C/C++/FORTRAN, parallel programming frameworks like MPI and OpenMP. * Have a basic working knowledge of parallel file systems like Lustre, GPFS and ZFS and various storage solutions used in HPC systems. * Experience representing a business/academic/government unit in the region, owning/driving a regional business institutional/development/sales plan or equivalent * Experience with enterprise customers and experience working with CIO/CTO level * Excellent presentation and communication skills * Team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate with complex matrixed teams across the region * Must be able to travel 50% or depending on projects and customer needs.
