Summary
As a part of Dell’s Microsoft Program Office, the MPO Global Commodity Management Consultant for Windows will drive the global sourcing strategy, relationship management and facilitation, licensing, and business development for client consumer devices and act as a primary interface between Dell and Microsoft. The role is a hybrid of a traditional commodity management responsibilities, program management, supplier relationship management, and business development.
Responsibilities
* Active partnership with business stakeholders, demonstrating credibility with business counterparts both through procurement excellence and subject-matter expertise winning a strategic advisory role with early involvement, thought leadership, and a “seat at the table” in critical decision-making * Drive for industry leading value: best-in-industry value capture orientation through sourcing strategy, negotiation, contract excellence, and continuous improvement * Advisory role to internal business partners regarding industry trends, Microsoft policy, and overall subject matter expertise * Lead licensing activities for Windows through Microsoft’s annual OST process. * Manage Dell’s relationship with Microsoft for consumer client devices, facilitating engagement between Dell’s multiple cross-functional teams
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements** * Strong background in the software market with experience in, but not limited to, the following functions: Software or Solutions Business Development, Product Marketing, technology Sourcing/Procurement, and or Industry Consulting * Undergraduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 6+ years relevant experience * Strong business acumen balanced with technical aptitude * Drive for results and dealing with ambiguity skills * Superior analytical and problem solving skills * Strong knowledge of the PC industry, trends, and technology **Preferences** * Advanced degree and/or MBA * Core procurement experience in the areas of negotiations, complex contracting, stakeholder management and sourcing strategy development * Excellent presentation skills * Experience influencing stakeholders across wide and complex organizations and at the executive levels * Experience in licensing intellectual property including the setup of optimal financial models (e.g., royalties, subscriptions, MDF, hosting, etc.) and understanding of assigning of licensing grants and software license constructs * Previous experience working with or for a top tier ISV
