About Dealertrack
Dealertrack is the leading provider of digital solutions to the automotive retail industry. Whether you’re a dealer, a lender, a manufacturer, or a state agency, our integrated and intuitive approach to products and services makes your workflows more efficient, transparent, and profitable.
Summary
Dealertrack has created some of the world's most influential digital experiences in the automotive industry. We are looking for great and passionate Testing professionals who are interested in thinking critically to learn how to solve problems. Testers help mitigate risks for our stakeholders by casting light on the status of the product so that the business can make more informed decisions. Our products and clients are as diverse as the tools we are using. You should be a generalist and problem solver who likes challenge and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment where self-driven learning is king.
Responsibilities
* Having an entrepreneurial spirit is as important as being a team member. Although you are serving in a Testing role, you should not be afraid of wearing multiple hats in Dealertrack’s hugely collaborative environment. It takes cross-functional teams who work closely together in order to get things done. We champion an ego-free environment where teams succeed and fail as a team, where failures are framed as learning opportunities. We value talent over title, and people over process. Transformative ideas can come from anyone, anywhere in the company. * As proponents of the context-driven testing community, we believe in good practices that work depending on the context of your environment. We strive on rapid experimentation and iteration based on those results. Let’s make our product better over time, while still being able to pivot as needed to respond to client desires. We establish proven processes in order to add value, but these are always subject to the same scrutiny that we go through with our product iteration. Knowing how to deliver software in an intentionally thoughtful way matters to us. Lean principles, exploratory testing techniques and being able to effectively communicate our passionate about technology is important to how we operate. We are looking for someone who gets equally excited about those things and understands good practices as it relates to testing. * You will be able to work in a variety of client settings and platforms and collaborate in a smart environment where your ideas are welcomed and appreciated. We’re a team-oriented and collaborative environment that practices exploratory and session based testing. There is plenty of room to grow at Dealertrack. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Ideal Candidate
* Ability to manually test through a combination of thinking critically about product context as well as the use of established exploratory testing techniques. * Deep interest in becoming a subject-matter expert in the product for the purpose of establishing a more informed testing approach to the product. * Ability to use explicit test modeling and established testing heuristics to inform the team on the testing strategy. * Ability to think critically about Functionality and Flow testing to explore for value to the customer through a holistic approach to testing. * Firm grasp that the testing phase and development phase occur simultaneously within the same space requiring extremely outgoing communication skills in order to understand the items under test. * Ability to advocate for Testability, as it relates to making the software easier to manipulate for the purpose of exposing potential product risks. * Ability to recognize where automation can assist with the manual testing process where needed, through collaboration with team members. * Strong understanding of popular web browsers, mobile devices as well as various operating systems and related functionality. * Experience with testing tools, including but not limited to automation as a way to enhance and make testing strategies more robust. (e.g. Selenium, FireBug, Postman, API testing, Jira, Rally, Git, Peer review, etc.) * Excellent verbal and professional writing skills. * Ability to write simple code such as HTML and CSS * Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Lean, Agile and/or Scrum. * Excellent problem solving skills, a love for technical challenges, and a willingness to self-drive your own learning using the other talent and resources around you.
