Summary
Our customer is seeking a Database Developer who will play a key role on the Infrastructure team. This role provides critical support, architecture and engineering for current and future databases. Activities include the provisioning, monitoring and maintenance of databases with a high degree of repeatability/reliability, performance tuning and optimization of all database systems and fully documenting solutions.
Responsibilities
* Implement and configure MySQL/Mongo databases * Define and improve best practices for data and database design * Create database objects (tables, indexes, etc.) * Generate test/performance data * Attend use case reviews * Ownership of data/domain modeling * Write database procedures, functions, and triggers * Participate in product evaluation, design review sessions, data requirements meetings and consulting with application developers * Performance monitoring and tuning of database queries * Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years working as a database engineer or a related role * Strong SQL expertise. You can write a query to do almost anything. * Knowledge of data modeling techniques * Ability to work in an agile environment. You can address bugs with QA, plan schemas with engineering, and respond quickly to other business needs Performance tuning and query rewrite techniques * Knowledge of hardware sizing and tuning requirements for database loads based on efficient use of multiple resources * Proficient writing scripts for maintenance and automation purposes **Education and Experience Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Information Technology preferred or equivalent experience * Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Database Developer or equivalent. * Demonstrated experience with creating management systems to provide effective and efficient access to information stored in databases. * Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environments * Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
