Responsibilities
Leads the development and management of the department research compute cluster. Designs, develops, deploys, maintains, supports, and manages mission-critical Computer Science computing infrastructure, including hardware, software, Linux operating systems, network file systems, network services, for the faculty, students, and administrative staff of the Computer Science department.
Ideal Candidate
- Independent self-directed analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate and solve hardware, software, and networking problems in a timely manner. - Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, training users in complex topics - Has a solid understanding of Linux operating system in a networked/distributed computing. - Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (python/bash preferred). - Five years of experience as a technical administrator for hardware, operating systems, and network management. - Experience managing a computing cluster. - Significant programming experience in any applicable language. - Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
