Electrical Technician II

Established in 1937, this modest business prospered through the manufacture of such products as plastic key cases, steel tape measures, and identification tags for the armed services.

This position will safely assemble, troubleshoot and wire electrical controls for production equipment.

* Comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP) as required * Comply with Dart Container's policies and procedures * Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, materials, products, and machine and process controls * Set-up, test, and participate in troubleshooting basic to moderately complex machine and process control systems * Assemble, wire, and test electrical controls, machinery and prototype equipment * Read and interpret basic to moderately complex electrical assembly drawings, schematics, wire lists and bills of material * Identify and evaluate basic electrical and electronic components * Conduct bench tests on electrical and electronic controls and systems * Diagnose and repair basic to moderately complex electrical assemblies using appropriate test equipment * Operate power and manual hand tools * Collaborate with electrical engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems * Assist with maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory and ordering parts for new installation or replacement * Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products * Works under direct to moderate supervision * Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers and customers to achieve the best results possible * Promote the Safety Culture and ensure employees understand safe work practices and the requirements of environmental regulations

* Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues * Ability to work overtime as needed * Ability to work weekends as needed * Two (2) years of technical training, apprenticeship, trade school, military technical school, or on the job training specifically relating to electrical controls. Associate’s degree in Electronics or Electrical program experience preferred * Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc. * Ability to understand, identify, and protect against electrical hazards * Ability to solve basic algebraic equations and electrical formulas, and understand decimals and fractions * Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings including, but not limited to manuals, catalogues, schematics, prints or wire lists * Familiar with production tooling and equipment and testing equipment * Ability to learn and understand production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products * Ability to learn and understand automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software preferred * Good verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information * Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
