Summary
As the Director of Mechanical Engineering you will set direction for and lead your team to create the overall mechanical design for multiple product lines, with a focus on the DAQRI Smart Helmet. You will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal leadership and mentoring skills to build and develop a team responsible for all mechanical systems and components associated with DAQRI products.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership across all our mechanical engineering teams. * Ensure your teams are provided with the technical structure and guidance they need to successfully implement solutions. * Drive all elements in the design, development, maintenance, testing and manufacturing support of all mechanical systems. * Mentor staff, increase awareness of requirements-driven mechanical systems designs and associated engineering and manufacturing documentation. * Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs.Lead product DFM and DFA conversations internally and with vendors.
Ideal Candidate
* BS or MS Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field.Advanced CAD working knowledge (SolidWorks and ProE). * Experience managing Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing. * Familiarity with ANSI and OSHA certifications. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization. * Have a proven track record of delivering products to market. * Experience creating products that have optical components, cameras and other advanced peripherals. * Working knowledge of thermal modeling. * Proven success in building and managing a team of mechanical engineers.
