Responsibilities
TASKS The Communications Specialistwill work with the DAI team to provide a broad range of support for the communication and outreach efforts for Center for Development Innovations and related groups interested in accessing DAI’s support services contract. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: - Support the implementation of campaign and outreach strategies for individual programs - Create outreach materials and related content Draft digital and social media content - Map target communities and audiences for outreach Build and maintain relevant conversations in online communities - Draft outreach emails as needed for email campaigns - Write (or ghostwrite) blogs, tweets, op-eds - Work closely with DAI Marketing and Communications Director and DAI Lab/DI leads to ensure that the websites are relevant, updated regularly, and demonstrating value - Make revisions and adjustments to the websites if and when DAI assumes maintenance responsibilities for the site(s) - Support ongoing media relations campaign effort where needed - Identify content for online website and digital outreach - Institute, review, and analyze analytics to find out what is working and what is not working from implementing the online and digital media strategies and what types of digital and online content motivates solvers in developing and developed countries to respond to Lab/DI calls for innovations - Other duties as assigned. DELIVERABLES The Communications Specialist, under the supervision of the DAI Marketing and Communications Director, will deliver support in the outreach of the Center for Development Innovations initiative at both a meta-level and at the level of the individual Lab/DI initiatives. Deliverables may include, but are not limited to: - Develop and implement Campaign and Outreach Strategies - Contribute to the production of content and related digital media and its integration into a larger communications strategy - Contribute to the creation and distribution of content created at the meta and individual Lab/DI levels with appropriate USAID clearances - Analyze impact of and response to digital media - Develop monthly impact reports focusing on analytics evaluation - Perform site updates and content revisions to sites as needed and under evaluation of supervisor - Develop fact sheets or collateral on as needed basis - Promote relevant Lab content through social networks - Support all major Lab events and Lab launches - Provide other support as needed directly to USAID teams on communications efforts - Conduct research on a variety of topics related to the Lab/DI, including data gathering, literature review, market analysis and stakeholder mapping Provide additional communications, research, and general support to DAI team as needed.
Ideal Candidate
- Knowledge of, interest in, and demonstrated experience with writing, editing, social media tools - Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player - Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, multi-website, multi-client environment - BA in journalism, public relations, communications, business, international affairs, political science or marketing. - 2 years professional work experience
