Summary
Client is looking for an experienced Release Manager to join their IT team. The successful candidate will own the Release Management lifecycle, perform deployments and work collaboratively with all participants on software development projects. This person will also works with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously continuous delivery.
Responsibilities
* Develops, documents and maintains the Release and Deployment Management Strategy * Coordinates Implementation of Release and Deployment Management Strategy and Policies * Monitors the Critical Success Factors (CSF) and the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) ensuring that performance targets are met * Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews * Define, update and communicate Release plans to key stakeholders * Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors. * Identify the impact of the Release (who, what and when) * Manage Customer & User expectations and communication * Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality * Ensure Release documentation is complete including back out plans * Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans * Work with developers to understand impacts of branches and code merges * Continually work towards making improvements in our change management tool set and process Maintain automated deployments using tools like Jenkins, Chef or other tools
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field * 3-5 years of previous release management experience * Good understanding of basic Project Management principals * 5-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development * Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle * Experience in automated deployment using Jenkins and scripting or similar tools required * Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion * Demonstrated effective analytical and risk management skills * Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must * Deployment experience with the following are plus: Chef, Octopus and TeamCity * GIT and Bitbucket experience a plus * Formal Quality Assurance and/Project Management experience a plus * Linux and Windows command line experience a plus
