Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible, under the direction of the Plant Manager, to assist in new project and process implementation, suggest and implement new equipment, capital projects, tooling, fixturing to produce the product, develop and maintain process cost data for others to use, develop required process information, develop preventive maintenance schedules for production machinery and conduct continuous improvement for manufacturing. *1. Charged with the responsibility of defining obstacles and aid in creating solutions concerning safety, identifying safety hazards, and suggesting corrective actions. *2. Follow company safety practices and procedures to provide a safe work environment for all team members. *3. Develop and maintain all routing, process, and work center standards and make them available to all those who will enter information into the computer for manufactured items. *4. Work closely with Quality Assurance to develop and document processes, procedures and work instructions which affect product quality. *5. Make certain all manufacturing processes are capable of producing products that will consistently conform to acceptable safety standards. *6. Utilize the Product Control Change procedure to improve throughput and product. *7. Assist in the selection and design, choice of physical location, and installation of in-plant processing equipment. Establish, document and implement preventative maintenance and safety procedures. *8. Assist in design of fixtures for product processing. *9. Work closely with assigned manufacturing supervision to develop and maintain departmental training programs for specific job functions. a) Formulate teaching outlines for identified jobs and required training. Create/provide training aids, materials, workstation references, written procedures, work instructions, check-lists, etc. for employees’ use in performing the job. b) Coordinate shop-floor training with department supervision to ensure processes/procedures/work instructions are being followed and training is being reinforced. *10. Work with departments to resolve non-conforming products and processes. *11. Help departments organize areas to improve production processes, thru-puts and efficiencies. *12. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws affecting this area of responsibility. *13. Perform all other duties, as required, to meet customer and company quality and productivity needs.
Ideal Candidate
Experience/Education Required: 1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college. 2. Four years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment. 3. A thorough knowledge of basic concepts, LEAN / Continuous Improvement (C.I.) principles and practices and established manufacturing procedures. 4. A basic understanding of ISO quality program requirements. 5. Excellent verbal and written skills plus the ability to conduct effective meetings. 6. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
