Responsibilities
- Establish a framework for identifying, capturing and communicating product opportunities across the Company - Establish a framework for qualifying product opportunities and building business cases to support investment in the product opportunities - Establish selection criteria to be used in product prioritization - Maintain comprehensive Company product roadmap, prioritized based on selection criteria and scheduled based on Company’s Agile development methodology - Provide complete transparency on roadmap prioritization activities - Determine cadence and structure of product management reports to Senior Leadership - Identify common needs across Brands and manage requirements reconciliation process to promote product standardization wherever feasible - Build, train and manage a team of product managers who will be key liaison between editorial- and business-side stakeholders and the engineering team who will execute on their product vision - Install best practices for requirements gathering, user story creation, wire-framing and any other artifact needed to effectively convey product vision to the engineering team - With the product management team, serve as the “voice of the product” throughout the Agile development process - Ensures in-scope, on-time releases - Manage the User Acceptance Testing process after product certification by the engineering team - Establishing and managing launch procedures for all product launches - Establish processes for effectively “handing off” the management of product to end client - As needed, assists Company and Brand marketing teams in creating marketing programs for product launches - Establish processes for ensuring Company personnel are staying up-to-speed on the use of the various products and platforms at their disposal - Establish portfolio-based buy vs. build evaluation metrics and apply to product development projects - Identify new vendors and technologies that will improve the Company’s digital performance; convey those benefits; achieve Brand buy-in; negotiate favorable deals with vendors; implement technologies; and monitor performance against pre-established KPIs - Drive continuous digital product improvement across all Brands by utilizing a data-driven approach to product management, deployment and evaluation.
Ideal Candidate
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; MBA a plus - A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated expertise in the product management discipline - Experience leading product management teams - A deep understanding of social & digital media, marketing, analytics, technology and strategy - A strong understanding of the Crain organization and the strength, uniqueness, and power of each Brand - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in data analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS) is a plus - A collaborative, consensus-building approach and the ability to work in unstructured environments without direct authority over Brands or engineering teams Organization Overview
