Summary

The financial reporting group serves as subject matter experts on technical accounting issues. The team’s primary function is to prepare and ensure that the company’s consolidated financial statements are in compliance with GAAP. We are seeking a proactive independent thinker and strong communicator to join our Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Group as a Senior Analyst supporting the Cox Communications, Inc. (CCI) division. This position will interact with business and finance leaders across the company to provide consultation on technical accounting matters.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for CCI debt accounting, including interest accruals, interest rate swap accounting and hedge accounting.
  • Coordinate accounting, analysis, budgeting and reporting of investments and leases held by CCI.
  • Perform technical accounting consultation and guidance to support corporate departments and field locations. Research technical accounting issues and the evaluation of new accounting guidance.
  • Achieve timely completion of deliverables to internal and external clients which includes monthly, quarterly and annual tasks for CCI, monthly reporting to Cox Enterprises financing reporting for consolidation and coordinating testing selections with external auditors.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for and the coordination of annual audits. The financial reporting group serves as the main relationship owner with the external auditors.
  • Assist in completion of CCI internal special projects such as bond offerings, acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Assist preparation of quarterly and annual CCI financial statements distributed to investors, analysts and senior leadership.
  • Continue to develop industry and technical accounting expertise and knowledge by attending CPE workshops, webcasts and seminars.
Ideal Candidate
  • Ideal candidate possesses at least 2 years of experience in public accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of current US GAAP.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred.
  • Oracle accounting system experience is a plus.

Education:

  • BS/BA in accounting or related discipline; master’s degree in accounting or related discipline preferred.
