Summary

Cox Communications is searching for a Senior Director of RF Engineering to provide leadership and strategic direction in planning, design and support of RF associated solutions with a concentrated focus on the HFC/Access network. The position is responsible for the selection, testing and implementation of RF solutions establishing engineering standards and practices aligned with company and industry, standards and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct the RF Engineering team in the planning, design and support of RF associated solutions and standards.
  • Establishing RF standards and specifications in collaboration with Cox business partners, vendors, CableLabs, SCTE, IEEE and other industry standards bodies with compliance oversight.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with Cox Engineering, Architecture and other Cox business partners in the development of a strategic HFC/Access network plan that aligns with overall business priorities.
  • Analysis of solution or standard that includes and is not limited to reliability, operational and financial impact, inclusive of TCO.
  • Provides leadership and evaluation of RF test and monitoring solutions for existing and next generation HFC/Access network.
  • Develops and implements a Tier 5 support model that aligns with Engineering and Operational requirements.
  • Establishes and refines RF performance metrics that are aligned with business requirements and company vision.
Ideal Candidate
  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline (i.e. electrical engineering).
  • Generally 10+ years of experience in related field, including several years in a management/supervisory capacity. Certification required in some areas.
  • 10+ years of experience with RF with extensive knowledge of HFC design including RF/optical combining/splitting infrastructure, DOCSIS and PON technologies
  • 8-10 years experience in creating business cases and responsibility for capital planning / investment decisions.
  • Ability to manage across functional teams to achieve desired business results.
  • Ability to translate a business agenda into technology terms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in Quality Management/Process Improvement
