Summary
The System Engineer II will ensure the stable operation of the data center, computer storage, and virtual environments. They will be responsbile for installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing multi-platform storage environment while supporting our infrastructure. This individual will analyze and resolve moderately complex end user server hardware and software computer problems. Also mentors Level I System Engineers, and assists with technical escalations.
Responsibilities
* Manage servers, including file/print, virtual servers, and physical servers and their associated operating systems and software. * Manage security concerning Operating system solutions by following industry standard best practices under the guidance of the data security analyst. * Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot moderately complex application server hardware, software, and peripheral devices. * Assist with all equipment, hardware and software upgrades. * Implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for storage administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. * Implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for VM Ware administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. * Practice storage asset management, including maintenance of storage component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. * Support SLA for storage presentation with applicable teams * Support SLA for VM Ware environment with applicable teams * Document and maintain existing storage environment. Update as appropriate in accordance with Industry best practices. * Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights. * Monitor and test storage performance and provide storage performance statistics and reports. * Monitor storage consumption, providing storage availability and trending reports. * Recommend, schedule, and perform storage improvements, upgrades, and repairs. * Assist in completion of special projects on as needed basis. * On call rotations as required
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience * 3 - 5 years of systems administration experience * Advanced knowledge of server hardware, Microsoft Active Directory (and related services), EMC Clarion/VNX Storage, VMware 5.1, 5.5, Microsoft SCOM, Brocade switches, FC switches, and storage connectivity, ESX hosts * Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or relevant certifications preferred * Office environment with occasional travel up to 15% to: correctional facilities, regional offices, client and/or vendor sites. Provides on call (night/weekend) assistance in support of the company's 24 x 7 computer operations
