Summary

Contently is hiring a Research Director capable of leading research projects to be leveraged as compelling articles, video, and infographics for our own publication The Content Strategist and clients titles. This is an extension of Contently’s ongoing mission to empower brands’ to reach their audiences through story.

The role will be a temporary part-time position, but we anticipate the hours and involvement to evolve and increase as we proceed.

Responsibilities
  • Project management: Acts as a team leader for corporate research projects, coordinating all aspects of complex research resources including subject matter experts, data analysts, designers, and editors.
  • Research generation: Participates in the conceptualization and writing of key research deliverables, including research briefs, survey profiles, and the final research report.
  • Data collection and gathering: Works with a wide variety of organizations and partners to administer research surveys and or/gather key marketing and research data using either existing or new data models.
  • Analyst work: Interacts directly with Contently clients and external parties (in-person, telephone) to gather and review research findings as well as discuss business-related problems/issues.
  • Segmentation & Profiling: Understand market analysis, customer segmentation, and content marketing strategies that help develop target audiences and customer personas for Contently clients’ market opportunities.
  • Service development: Works with our other research analysts to ensure on-time delivery of research results and reports to Contently client/s
  • Client-facing activities: Delivers on ad hoc consulting projects as needed (e.g. benchmarking, go-to-market, assessments) as well as research presentations (internal and external).
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience with consumer research including quantitative and qualitative survey development and analysis, as well as development of meaningful research conclusions and business implications, as well as deep consumer insights
  • Experience with marketing channels such as traditional TV, radio, print, display, search and mobile research metrics, platforms and tools such as Galaxy, nPower, Adviews, NTI, C3, ratings projections, ComScore, Ad relevance, MRI, Simmons, Scarborough, Arbitron, etc.
  • Customer-facing skills (strong presenter, comfortable with executive-level audience, able to identify issues/needs through effective questioning)
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards used to deliver insights in a format that is consumable/usable at multiple types of audiences. - Familiarity with current tools for data models, and visualization across multiple and disparate data sources.
  • Experience with measurement plans, campaign testing, market mix modeling, ROI, in-market testing, and ad/media evaluation
  • Experience both in managing people and as a team player interacting with different functional areas and personality styles.
  • Demonstrated ability in forming trusted advisor relationships with internal partners or external clients.
  • A proven track record of triangulating disparate data and turning them into business recommendations and actions.
  • BA/BS in statistics, economics, or market research preferred; MBA or Masters degree a plus
