Summary
Consolidated Investment Group, a privately held investment company focused on capital markets, real estate, and philanthropic initiatives is seeking a Real Estate Accountant for their real estate group. This newly created position will report to the Real Estate Financial Controller and will be an important part of the real estate team. The company acquires properties either directly or through major real estate operating partners throughout the United States. The Real Estate Accountant will have overall responsibility for real estate accounting functions, including monthly financial reporting, financial statements, variance analysis, tax returns, lender financing, ad hoc reporting, insurance coordinator, and general accounting.
Responsibilities
* Conduct monthly review of CIG’s real estate investment partners (US) financial statements and financial performance measures * Prepare annual financial statements for annual tax return preparation by external accountant for real estate entities * Coordinate year-end financial statement transmission to CPA firm to facilitate tax preparation * Assist with due diligence of potential real estate investments * Review monthly financial statements and bank reconciliations of California properties and other direct owned real estate * Review and approve capital draws * Conduct review of annual financial budgets for real estate entities * Responsible for insurance procurement and contact with insurance brokers (property insurance, Corporate CIG insurance and aircraft coverage insurance) * Act as real estate tax protests coordinator and present information at hearings * Responsible for document submissions to lenders/brokers on real estate refinance transaction?
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required * 5+ years of general accounting experience required * Real estate accounting experience required * Experience/knowledge of insurance coverages/programs preferred * Highly proficient in Microsoft Office * Great Plains experience highly preferred * Tax protest experience is preferred
