Summary
The Corporate Industrial Hygienist (IH) provides overall industrial hygiene and toxicology strategic planning, direction, assurance, functional leadership and field support to the global business and operations. This position is responsible for developing and managing global industrial hygiene and toxicology systems, processes and tools, while also serving as a company-wide IH resource. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and have operating experience in field implementation of IH programs and how a corporate resource can best support that effort.
Responsibilities
* Owning and managing the enterprise IH program, including assessing and performing fit-for-purpose IH program improvement to ensure regulatory compliance and functional excellence * Develop and maintain IH-related corporate standards, practices and guidelines * Partnering with the business units to build the IH function globally * Providing hazard recognition, monitoring strategies, exposure assessment and control methodologies for business units and strategic projects * Addressing complex IH issues with potential impact across the Company * Programmatic aspects of chemical inventory and safety data sheets * As requested by the business units, provide external response to proposed regulations, internal compliance impact evaluation, regulatory interpretations, and development of compliance guidance * Providing technical IH support for the corporate IH Data Management System, Essential, and for special projects * Providing litigation support for lawsuits or regulatory actions involving ConocoPhillips products and/or employee/contractor exposures. * Supporting the corporate HSE audit process by serving as a guest auditor, providing functional expertise, and by providing pre and post audit support to business units * Managing corporate reporting of industrial hygiene metrics * Championing the web-based Corporate-level IH knowledge sharing network (NoE) related information, documents and procedures * Providing functional leadership and IH-focused training to the business units as necessary or requested * Leveraging company and industry best practices and technologies via opportunities for networking internally and externally * Interfacing with industry and functional associations on IH issues as appropriate
Ideal Candidate
**Basic/Required Qualifications:** * Legally authorized to work in the United States * Bachelor’s Degree or higher in industrial hygiene, toxicology, safety, public health, biology, environmental, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, or other related discipline * Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH); Certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene * 7+ years of field-based Industrial Hygiene experience * Experience in oil & gas, mining or other related industries * Willing and able to travel up to 25% **Preferred Qualifications:** * Masters of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene or related field * 5+ years of petroleum experience * Partners collaboratively: able to build strong relationships with global operations and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the organization to achieve business goals * Experience with database management, report generation, and database querying * Able to lead change: proven ability to lead change and flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs * Strong communicator: able to communicate effectively with people, regardless of their level, culture or role within the organization; uses communication and interpersonal skills to influence, align, and drive performance and achieve business results
