Summary
The Director of Security is responsible to oversee the physical security for all Columbia Residential properties and assets by strategically developing procedures, policies, guidelines and programs to promote a safe and secure environment for residents, employees, contractors, and the protection of company assets of multiple properties located throughout Columbia's portfolio. The position will be based out of Atlanta, Georgia with approximately 70% or more of the job to require traveling to properties.
Responsibilities
* Use a boots-on-the-ground approach by spending a majority of time visiting the communities and helping the team resolve security issues. * Conduct monthly Security Meetings with the community teams, Security Vendor, and the Atlanta Police Department to proactively identify and resolve opportunities for criminal activity. * Complete assessments of each community to cure deficiencies with controlled access systems, locks, gates, lighting, overgrown landscaping, and security cameras. * Attend weekly Portfolio Management meetings to follow-up with the team and collaborate on resolutions of open security items. * Partner with local law enforcement to create and perform security/safety training sessions with employees and residents. * Other responsibilities as assigned/needed.
Ideal Candidate
**Skills/Specialized Knowledge:** * Strong ability to be a self-starter and work indedpendently. * Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English. * Ability to use a personal computer and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. * Experience with security equipment, installations, and monitoring software. * Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. * Ability to negotiate a contract. * Ability to set goals and consistently meet deadlines * Ability to make quick and effective decisions. * Ability to analyze and resolve problems. * Ability to cope with and defuse situations involving angry or difficult people. * Ability to conduct interviews. * Ability to train. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. **Education and/or Experience:** * High School diploma or equivalent is required. * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. * Law Enforcement experience preferred. **Required Licenses or Certifications:** * Current valid driver's license and automobile insurance. * Other license and/or certifications as required by state law. **Other Requirements:** * Must be reachable at all times via phone except during approved time off.
